The works by Jorge Pineda are also composed of ambiguities, contradictions and the tensions of modem times, that he approaches from a critical perspective. His is a work of denunciation and commitment in the face of different violent situations. Achieving in this treatment of violence towards children a particular tension and creative lucidity. The use of children’s literature constitutes on of his main creative sources in this line of work, as is the case of his “Red Riding hood” or “Winnie the pooh”, where he delves crudely into the problem of child abuse. The contradictory world of human conduct is the leitmotif of “Niñas Locas”, a series of midsize compositions carried out in black ink ball – pen. With impeccable mastery, subtlety and figurative clarity, Pineda associates the masked infantile image with the hiding and self – deceit used by adults as in their daily modus operandi. In these drawing, the human figure is represented on a plane, combining the child iconography of paper dolls with comics. In addition, the works present a contrast between the linear and transparent image with the dense black balloon the blow. This proposal, which goes beyond the specificity of gender, uses the image of the female child as a pretext to evoke the process of analysis and knowledge of the human personality. Niñas Locas symbolizes the innocent child that still lives in the adult.
